We Can’t Do Nothing

 |

The people who volunteer for Cities4Life come from various churches, various backgrounds, and various struggles. They share a common vision however: all feel compelled to speak for the voiceless unborn babies destined to die by abortion.

One of our counselors, Kelly, followed on the heels of her two sisters to volunteer with us. All three are amazing young women with powerful testimonies of God working in their lives. Hear how God spoke to Kelly to draw her to be involved as a sidewalk counselor in front of the busiest abortion center in the Southeast:

My name is Kelly Munn. I gave my life to Jesus Christ and came to know him as my Lord and Savior when I was 16 years old. The Lord brought me back from the brink of suicide, more than once.

Pro-life volunteer

Our God is a great and mighty God. He loves his children. ALL of his children. His children are called to speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves.

My older sisters came out on the sidewalks long before I did. I kept putting off coming out. I was scared I would cry. I was scared it would be too much. I was scared I couldn’t handle it. Then Kyndra said something that changed my mind.

“I can’t be sitting at home doing nothing when I know that babies are dying. God calls us into situations that are hard and uncomfortable so we will grow. It’s all for His Glory. We can’t do nothing, when He is calling us to do his work.”

I realized I had made it all about myself. My selfish reasons for not helping. My selfish fears. Any fear or discomfort I felt was nothing in comparison to what unborn children were experiencing while I stewed in my own selfishness.

I went out the next day with Kaila, my other sister. It was as hard and sad as I feared. Sidewalk ministry was different from anything else I had experienced before. And through it all, my God sustained me. Being in fellowship with other Christians, helping moms, helping babies, it’s all worth it, every tear, every hot or cold day, every nasty comment… It is all worth it. The children are worth it. The moms are worth it.

I encourage you to come out with us one day and witness the work God has brought out on the sidewalks. All glory, all praise, go to our God.
