Volunteering to Save Lives

 |

All of our Cities4Life sidewalk counselors express a turning point at which God clearly called them to the sidewalk of abortion centers. The circumstances are different that led each to know they must obey God in speaking for the unborn, but each clearly felt God’s call. Some (like me) ignore that call for years out of fear. Others respond to an immediate call. Mandy, one of our new volunteers, beautifully weaves the call of God to receive Jesus as her Lord and then the call to draw others to Him on the sidewalks of the abortion center. Her moving testimony is below.

Shane and Mandy are faithful volunteers on the frontlines.

Giving my testimony is something I am always prepared to do as God calls us to always be ready to give an account of what we believe and why. (but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; 1Peter 3:15)

I was 18 years old sitting in church listening intently to what my Pastor was preaching on. (Eph. 4:18-24) I battled with the spiritual warfare that was going on within myself, knowing I was a wretch but not willing to stop living for self. God in His graciousness allowed me to battle with this for 3 weeks.

I remember the beautiful moment when I could no longer fight this battle anymore. The call that God placed in my heart could no longer be avoided. I had to, in that very moment die to self and live for God and God alone. It was and is the complete work of God within me that has changed my life completely.

The more I am in His Word the closer I am to Him and to all that He calls me to be. I will never be perfected on this side of Heaven, however, He calls all His people to be disciples for Him, we are to know that He is always with us. (Matthew 28:19-20)

It wasn’t until I saw the movie, Unplanned that I was shaken to the core about abortion. I knew it happened and I knew somewhat how it happened, but being guilty of staying in my “comfort zone of life” I never thought anymore past that. This movie has changed my outlook on what I should be doing for those that do not have a voice.

I have always been pro-life as a matter of speaking, but how can you really be pro-life if you are doing nothing more then just saying you’re pro-life?  I knew I needed to do something. So I began to pray that God would use me in any way He wanted. I was ready to stand up, get out of my comfort zone of life, and be used by God. Even if that meant standing face to face with death.

Mandy and Shane reach out to a man that brought his girlfriend for an abortion.

So as I stand in front of the Latrobe Clinic Saturday after Saturday pleading with men and women to save the life of their unborn child I can tell you for certain it is none of me doing the work but ALL of God. He has answered my prayer in a mighty way and I will forever be thankful to Him. I pray He will continue to give me the strength, courage, wisdom, and passion to always stand firm in being the voice for the voiceless.

God has blessed us with such wonderful volunteers. These folks make sacrifices every day to be on the sidewalk and proclaim the Gospel to those visiting the local abortion centers. Of course, as a ministry, it takes resources for us to train, equip, and sustain these volunteers. Would you consider coming alongside Cities4Life and become a Champion4Life? It costs us about $35 a month to raise up, train and equip a sidewalk counselor. A Champion4Life is someone who financially supports our efforts with $25, $35, or $75. Please consider helping out.
