Volunteer Spotlight-The Gospel is Still the Answer

With the recent appalling legislation and proposals regarding late term abortion and even infanticide of newborn babies, the line between good and evil is increasingly apparent. Few can claim ignorance any more of the legal violence against innocent unborn babies. Maybe you have faced a dawning realization that you no longer can remain silent and inactive in the wake of recent news regarding unrestricted abortion.

Cities4Life is a ministry with dedicated Christians volunteering at the darkest place in this battle— the sidewalks in front of abortion centers. Our volunteers recognize that it is critical to reach abortion minded women with offers of tangible help and hope, but at the core of any true heart change is the truth of the Gospel. One can never legislate a transformed life…but Jesus can soften the hardest heart.

I hear it countless times when an abortion-determined women comes to faith: I just gave my life to Jesus. I can’t kill my baby now!

Debbie, one of our faithful volunteers shares how she came to understand this truth which propelled her to joining Cities4Life Sidewalk ministry.

I’ve been in the battle against abortion in some way or other or the better part of the last 33 years. About two years ago I’d just stopped leading a recovery ministry at church and just wanted a break from any and all ministry!

Well family and friends urged me to get on Facebook to advertise my pastel and pencil portraits-which in times past had kept me busy with commissions. I honestly thought Facebook was mostly people bragging about their vacations and new cars and didn’t realize anything about abortion would be on it! I felt an overwhelming desire to join Rusty Thomas with Operation Save America and after posting a comment asking if there was anything like that in Charlotte, Lisa Metzger mentioned Cities4Life so a few months later I contacted Daniel Parks and signed up!

Honestly most of the work I’d been involved in didn’t seem that Gospel centered except for Gaston Crisis Pregnancy Center of which I’m a board member. It is SO clear to me now that the Gospel is the answer to ending abortion! I’ll admit my telling others about Jesus has been few and far between! It is so glorious to me that moms and dads have given their lives to Jesus on the sidewalks of the abortion center! Glory to God!!!

We are so thankful for our wonderful volunteers. Like Debbie, all of our Cities4Life volunteers are committed to being a faithful, lovingly presence at the local abortion centers.
