Sometimes We Feel Defeated, But Jesus Always Wins

Sometimes things don’t end the way we would like them to, sometimes there is victory, and sometimes we feel defeated.  Life is full of ups and downs, and so is this ministry, but in the end, Jesus always wins.

A few weeks ago we were contacted to assist with an Abortion Pill Reversal through HELP Pregnancy Center in Monroe.  A young lady who had taken the abortion pill on a Saturday afternoon, immediately regretted her decision and contacted to find help reversing her decision.  Immediately our nurse and counselor team sprang into action and met this young lady to assist her.

Her story was like so many we hear, she felt like she had no other option, she took the abortion pill even when she didn’t want to, and immediately regret filled her.  She had already started having some cramping and bleeding, but the ultrasound showed a strong heartbeat, and if the baby is still alive we will give it everything we have at a shot at saving him or her.  She was immediately started on the medication protocol, and the first few days things seemed to be going ok.  But as always it is touch and go for the first week, we hold our breath and we pray.

Then the text you never want to get.  “I’m in the ER with heavy bleeding and severe cramping.”  The ER was able to confirm she had miscarried.  And despite our best efforts, the baby did not make it.  She was so very sad that this baby was gone, but so grateful to had been given a second chance to right the wrong she had done.

The Abortion Pill Reversal protocol has approximately a 60% success rate, and we cannot guarantee that every attempt we make to save a baby will be successful.  What we can guarantee is that we will try our very best to help any woman who wants to try and reverse the deadly course she has set her baby on.  We also want to point her to the only one who can right her wrong, Jesus.  Every time we counsel a woman we get the opportunity to share how He is the one who takes our sins and mistakes and casts them as far as the East is from the West, if we turn from our sin and trust in Him.

As for this young lady.  She realized what she did by taking the abortion pill wasn’t just a bad decision or a poor choice, it was a sin against God.  She has found forgiveness and restoration through Jesus.  She has been given a second chance at her own life now, through a new life in Christ.

Things don’t always work out exactly as we plan, and sometimes we feel defeated, but we trust the Lord to use it all for His Glory.

“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.  He will not always strive with us, nor will He keep His anger forever.  He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities.  For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”  Psalms 103:8-12
