“She Didn’t Know She Was Pregnant”
Kesha* came to the abortion center frantic. A few days earlier she was feeling a little strange but thought that it might be the flu or that she was just overworking herself. An elite athlete looking at a potential professional career, she knew her body was not quite itself. In passing, a friend mentioned, “Are you sure you aren’t pregnant?” Kesha shrugged it off, but that thought stuck with her so she took a pregnancy test. The first test was positive. The second negative. Now what?
How could she have a child and fulfill her athletic dream? She went to the first place many of us go when we’re in a tough spot. She went to Google. Kesha knew abortion was wrong but she just didn’t think that if she was pregnant that she could handle having a child at this point in her life. She figured,” I’ll just go to the abortion clinic and see if I am really pregnant and then I’ll weigh my options.” When she searched “abortion” of course the first thing to pop up was the Latrobe abortion center. Reluctantly she drove to the Latrobe Drive abortion center.
Thankfully our Cities4Life team was there when Kesha arrived. Just seeing the people there offering help and a free ultrasound was a relief to her. Instead of pulling into the abortion center she pulled over to speak with a C4L volunteer. Moments later Kesha was seeing her baby on the ultrasound onboard the H.E.L.P. mobile unit. Not only was Kesha pregnant, but she was also pretty far along in her pregnancy. As you can see from the ultrasound video her little baby was dancing around and his/her little heart was beating away.
Kesha was so thankful we were there to offer her help and encourage her to do what she already knew was right. She chose LIFE that day and her baby is loved and protected. Stories like this encourage us to keep showing up and bringing the Gospel to these dark places. Had our team not been there that day Kesha would have likely gone into the abortion center and her precious baby would likely not be safe inside her womb right now.

As a Gospel-centered ministry Cities4Life™️ volunteers and staff work tirelessly to make sure no woman goes into an abortion center without hearing of the Hope and Help that comes through the Lord and His people. We hope this monthly newsletter will be an encouragement as you see what God is doing through this ministry.
March Volunteer Spotlight
At 16 yrs old, living in sin, unaware that I was, I try to imagine what I would have done if I had gotten pregnant. Feeling alone, frightened, afraid of what my parents or others would say or think and not knowing the Lord, I can’t say I would not have considered abortion.
I watched several of my friends choose that option which left them with unbearable sorrow, shame and guilt, especially as they got older and went on to get married and have families. It is only by God’s grace and mercy that I was never faced with making that decision. This is what makes me passionate about fighting for innocent babies but also for moms considering this horrible option. The thought of another life being taken because of someone else’s irresponsibility and selfishness sickens me.
My hope on the sidewalk is to share the love of Christ with people. One morning when I was praying before heading up to Latrobe, the Lord said, “It’s not so much my holiness that displaces the darkness up there but my love.” Wow…that made me more passionate about just being an instrument of His love. His perfect love casts out all fear. I want women to know that their babies are loved already and God has a plan and a purpose for them. I want them to know that they are loved as well and that we have a savior who loves us so much that he was willing to die for us.
To Him, EVERY life is worth paying that price. I want them to know killing their baby is not the answer. In a way, in being pro-life we are pro-choice because we can present several choices –good choices that don’t include aborting the precious life inside them. I am grateful to be a part of a ministry that can present “choices” that bring life and hope to families.
Coming this Month…
We’re really looking forward to spring. Spring brings warmer weather and hopefully the rainy days will get fewer. Please pray for our teams as they continue to reach out at the local abortion centers. We have been able to increase our presence at the Wendover abortion center little-by-little but we certainly could use more volunteers to help cover it on a regular basis. Pray that the Lord brings more workers for the harvest.
This month in our “Gospel-Centered Pro-Life” podcast as always we’ll tackle difficult subjects and hopefully encourage you as you stand for life. One episode coming this month is “How to keep from getting desensitized on the issue of abortion”. With so much talk about the horror of abortion, it’s easy to go numb and forget why we stand for LIFE. We hope that episode and others will keep you encouraged. Also, please reach out and let us know if there are any prolife subjects you’d like for us to cover in the podcast.
