Pro-lifers get accused all the time, by pro-abortion advocates and even some Christians, of focusing only on the issue of abortion. Of course since innocent lives are being destroyed in our city we are compelled by the love of Christ to speak up on their behalf and so we go to the places where they are killed and do so. However, we aren’t there only to speak on their behalf, we are there to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the moms, dads, friends, workers, really anyone whom we can reach.
We have the H.E.L.P. mobile ultrasound unit there to reach those going into the clinic, but, because we have been a very helpful fixture in the surrounding community for quite some time, there are those that come to Latrobe Drive not for the abortion clinic but seeking out our pro-life services on the mobile unit. This happened just a few weeks ago and we wanted to share a little about that.
As our volunteers were doing our typical outreach at the Latrobe abortion clinic, it was kind of an uneventful day. However, we noticed a young lady who was walking around the loop apparently looking for something. Initially we assumed she was coming to have an abortion, but she circled a few times not going near the clinic. Finally we approached her, to ask if we could help. She indicated that she was looking for the mobile unit so she could get a free pregnancy test and ultrasound. Unfortunately we didn’t have the RV out that day but we knew she would be well served at the Pregnancy Resource Center of Charlotte. Vicky offered to give her a ride there and of course took the opportunity to share the hope of the Gospel with this young lady. In our conversation with her in front of the clinic she said abortion would never be an option for her. So our outreach to her was not in light of abortion, but in light of the fact that whether a person is abortion minded or not, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” and everyone needs a Savior. J met her Savior that day on that ride from the clinic to PRC. Vicky very plainly laid out J’s guilt before God and need for a Savior and then asked if she was ready to surrender her life to Him. She said, “Yes I am” and prayed to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior!
As we celebrate Christmas, and ourselves meditate on the glorious truths of what God has accomplished for us by sending His son, let’s not forget to share the hope we have with others. As the old Christmas hymn goes, “Mild He lay His glory by, born that men no more may die, born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth.” Jesus laid aside His glory and as the Scripture says (Philippians 2:8), “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” The King of Glory laid down His life so that those that put their faith in Him may have life. That glorious truth should be broadcast not just in front of the local abortion clinics but everywhere.
We are right now in the midst of a matching gift campaign and we need your help to make it to $5000 before year end. We currently have $1500 left in this campaign so every little but helps. Merry Christmas and thank you for your support!
