This lovely lady in the photo is Sheryl of Truth and Mercy Pro-life Ministries. She organizes the incredible outpouring of two years of baby supplies for the mamas that we counsel at the sidewalks of abortion centers who choose life over abortion. She reminds me often, it is not about the gifts, though most moms we work with desperately need them. It is about the visible evidence of the love of Christ pouring out in lavish abundance.
Saturday, we had a shower for one young mom, “K”. I don’t want to share specifics of K’s life, but she had an enormous burden of struggle and sadness. When she chose not to abort, after meeting us on the sidewalks of the abortion center, her life began to change. It was clear God had a hold of her, and was working a miracle.
After showering her with a living room filled to the brim with gifts, we took her to lunch. She sat and talked about God with Sheryl, Sherry (the ultrasound nurse), and me for six hours over the course of the shower and lunch! YES, six hours talking about God. Though raised Catholic, she had dozens of questions about what a relationship with God was all about, who Jesus is, and what He accomplished on the cross. Though she knew the Gospel, she admitted she had never truly understood it…until now.
We had the incredible privilege of praying with her as she asked Jesus to be Lord of her life, and accepted the incomparable gift of eternal life and salvation through Him. We prayed out loud and held hands around the table at Chili’s Restaurant, and a new precious soul encounte
