It’s time for our monthly volunteer spotlight. We LOVE our volunteers! They are so selfless, giving and God-honoring. We are comprised of volunteers who range anywhere from retired grandparents to entire families, and everything in between. There is no mold to fit into to be part of Cities4Life™. The only thing that is required is that you love Jesus, have committed your life to Him, and that you love your neighbor as yourself.
Our January Spotlight is a family that has been involved with Cities4Life for almost 2 years. The Deal family: Richard, Terri, Liz, and Caitlyn, first got involved with Cities4Life after coming out to the abortion mill to pray during 40 Days for Life with their church (StoneBridge Church). Right around the same time they attended a Cities4Life 101 Frontline training and have been coming ever since. Richard also drives the HELP Crisis Pregnancy Center Mobile Ultrasound Unit a few times every month.
Richard and Terri married in 1989, and moved to Charlotte in 2005 for work. They have two terrific girls, Liz who is 18 (and heading to college in the fall), and Caitlyn who is 16. They are both adopted which has made this ministry particularly impactful for them. Most days you’ll find Richard working for a large Charlotte organization, which has its benefits, as they place a large emphasis on volunteering and impacting the community, he gets a weekday off a month to drive the mobile medical unit!
When asked why they choose to minister with Cities4Life they said, “Our why can be summarized simply as obedience. The need to be a voice for the voiceless and bringing Gospel truth to desperate people is a privilege. Someone took the time to share the Gospel with me, so in response, I want to tell others of His goodness. We are charged with proclamation, and as Martin Luther said, to be at the point the world and Satan are attacking is critical.” And his favorite part, “I enjoy spending time with my family while we are at the [abortion] mill and fellowshipping with other brothers and sisters in Christ who are joined in this mission.”
Richard also says how incredible it is to see how God works when we just show up and participate.
